Climate change affects every individual and community on our planet, and we all need to contribute to limiting its further development.
By 2030, we aim to achieve carbon neutrality.
Based on the strictest and most compelling scientific facts, we have developed a plan for CO2 neutrality, which has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aligns with the necessary reduction to maintain global warming at 1.5°C, the goal of the Paris Agreement. It is also the most ambitious and firmly set limit available within the SBTi process.
Our plan will be implemented gradually.
- By 2025: FORVIA Faurecia will be carbon-neutral in terms of internal CO2 emissions - Scope 1 and 2. This includes greenhouse gas emissions from Faurecia's industrial facilities, such as natural gas combustion, electricity and heat purchases. The group will reduce its energy consumption by at least 15%.
- By 2030: FORVIA Faurecia aims to approach carbon neutrality (-50%) for its controlled emissions - Scope 3, excluding the use phase. This includes activities across the entire manufacturing chain: procurement, leasing, transportation, travel, product use, waste, and recycling.
- By 2050: FORVIA Faurecia aims to be carbon-neutral for its total emissions - Scope 3, including CO2 emissions from automobiles for which the group supplies its products but does not have full control.
To achieve our goals, we collaborate with experts and invest in energy efficiency projects in our production plants.
Schneider Electric is our preferred partner for achieving CO2 neutrality.
To reduce emissions in Scope 1 and 2, FORVIA Faurecia has entered into a partnership with Schneider Electric to develop an action plan for 300 facilities, optimize energy supply, and use less energy and alternative energy sources. This includes the installation of photovoltaic panels and wind turbines both within and outside the facilities.
At FORVIA Faurecia, we take responsibility.
Our goal of achieving CO2 neutrality is ambitious, compatible with the +1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement, and also realistic. We will achieve this together with our customers, suppliers, partners, and all employees.
FORVIA Faurecia's emissions reduction goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
The company's emissions reduction goals have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its operations (Scope 1 and 2) and align with the necessary reduction to limit warming to 1.5°C, which is the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement and the most ambitious firmly set limit available within the SBTi process. SBTi states that "Faurecia commits to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from its operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 80% by 2025 from a 2019 base year. FORVIA Faurecia also commits to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions from its value chain (Scope 3) by 46% by 2030 from a 2019 base year." Beyond this commitment, the company aims to achieve a 100% reduction in emissions by 2050.
